Los Angeles has created new rules making it easy to convert your garage into a rental home.

We do all the work. We convert the garage, cover all costs, manage the unit, and pay you a significant percentage of the rental income. The amount you are paid depends on how long we can use the garage and the tenant you want.

An additional dwelling unit, an ADU, will increase the value of your home and provide you with a monthly revenue stream once your ADU is leased to a tenant of your choice.

Winner of the L.A. County Housing Innovation Challenge!

 

Last October, United Dwelling submitted a grant application to Los Angeles County’s Housing Innovation Challenge. From among 53 proposals evaluated by a panel of experts, United Dwelling was awarded $1,000,000 to pursue our idea to address the affordable housing crisis. L.A. County Supervisor Mark Ridley Thomas presented the award to our CEO at the Southern California Institute of Architecture on February 1, 2019. 

United Dwelling will use 100% of the award money to increase payments to homeowners to as much as $1,000 per month if they accept a tenant with housing voucher in selected neighborhoods.  These tenants will generally be employed in a lower paying service-oriented career in fields like social work, education or healthcare.
